When someone first uses a product, the disorderly arranged buttons confuses the user. ND series’ main concept was to induce users’ natural approach, for an intuitive operation. At the beginning of the designing stage, the components that made up the products were listed. Such as speaker unit, buttons, docking cradle, various ports, etc.
After that, the components that the user personally had to handle and the ones that they did not have to touch were separated, to be divided into two groups again depending on their shapes. One part had components that only dealt with sound, while the other part only included components that related to function and operation. The shapes that have these contrasting qualities merged to enable the user to simplify the complicated recognition stage, for intuitive operation of the product.
